Savennières Roche aux Moines Cuvée d'avant Château de Chamboureau 2001
The wine
This Savennières has a straw-yellow appearance with slightly green, shimmering hues. Tasting reveals a strikingly rich, fresh aromatic bouquet. There are also notes of linden, citrus, ripe white fruit and quince cheese. Thanks to its northerly location, it is marked by a great mineral character, which provides a marvellous counterbalance to its supple, full texture. As you may have guessed, this wine forms a perfect pairing with savoury gourmet dishes, such as poultry in cream sauce or a rich dish of fish in butter sauce.
About the Producer Château de Chamboureau
For the Savennières appellation, Château de Chamboureau is a historic domaine since it was founded over 400 years ago. In 2007, this 18 hectare vineyard was bought by a local businessman, Philip Fournier. Together with Domaine Jo Pithon, it is part of Domaine FL. Comprising several really wonderful parcels on fully south-facing hillside slopes, the vineyard is in part farmed organically.
