Coteaux du Languedoc Domaine Peyre Rose Syrah Léone (anciennement Belle Léone) Marlène Soria 2002
The wine
Cuvée Syrah Léone unfurls notes of black fruit, garrigue, leather and tobacco as well as spicy notes. The palate is powerful, with dense substance; the tannins are silky and the aromatic palette is extensive, (garrigue, coffee, spices ...). The long finish brings pleasant freshness. During its vinification, the cuvaison process is long. The wine is then aged for several years in vats and foudres (1/4). A model of excellence produced through biodynamic methods.
About the Producer Peyre Rose
Domaine Peyre Rose was created in the early 1990s by Marlène Soria, on the slopes of Saint-Pargoire between Béziers and Montpellier. The 25-hectare domain is planted mainly with red grapes (70% Syrah, then Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Carignan), with two hectares of white (50% Rolle, 40% Roussanne, and various other varieties including Viognier). The domain is certified for organic cultivation, and produces characteristic wines with great concentration and a very long élevage (and an additional bottle ageing before sale). The production is high in quality but limited in quantity, and therefore highly sought after by connoisseurs!
