Chambolle-Musigny Ghislaine Barthod 2017
The wine
This remarkable, 6-hectare domain produces top-of-the-range wines in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. It includes no fewer than 11 premiers crus all vinified in singular parcels. This Chambolle-Musigny is one of them. The harvests are carried out by hand, and the vinifications are low-intervention, carried out in the pure Burgundy tradition. The bunches are partially destemmed before the indigenous yeasts are left to perform their magic. There is then a maturation of around 20 months in oak casks (20-25% new wood). The wine itself carries the expression of its terroir, and its nose is perfectly ripe. On the palate it is flavourful with clear fruit and firm tannins. You can let this wine age for around 15 years to appreciate all of its subtlety.
