IGP Côtes Catalanes Olivier Pithon Le Pilou 2017
The wine
This cuvée is made from a single grape variety that reigns supreme here on the estate: Carignan. The very old vines (100 years) responsible for this cuvée result in wines with a purple shade. The nose offers aromas of dark fruits and animal notes while the wine stands out on the palate with flavours of ripe berries. Elegant tannins allow it to be kept for several years.
About the Producer Olivier Pithon
Olivier Pithon is the grandson of an Anjou wine grower, and also has a grower for a grandson in the Coteaux du Layon. Having trained among the family vines, and after completing various spells at in other vineyards (including several years in the Bordeaux region), Olivier Pithon settled in Calce, near Perpignan, in 2001. His vineyard, covering just over eight hectares, is farmed biodynamically. Olivier Pithon's wines are authentic, direct and very expressive.
