Lot presentation
Abeille de Fieuzal 1997
The wine
L'Abeille de Fieuzal is the second wine of the domain (cuvée also exists in white). It is produced with shorter macerations than the first wine, which increases the aromatic expression and makes the extraction more moderate. The bouquet is very elegant with black fruit, cocoa and toast aromas and peony notes. The palate has a nice balance, density and freshness to finish.
About the Producer Château de Fieuzal
The good reputation of Château de Fieuzal makes it one of the jewels of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This wine was classified Grand Cru during the Graves classification. This ancient cru was founded in the 16th century. It, then, belonged to the Gardères family, before becoming Fieuzal family’s property in the following century. The Fieuzal kept the château until 1851, when the last descendant of the name died. Today, the 75 hectare vineyard belongs to an Irish couple (since 2001), Brenda and Lochlann Quinn, both passionate about French wines. Stephen Carrier (formerly Lynch-Bages) has been managing the operations since 2007. Under the leadership of the new owners, both red and white wines have regained their lost excellence, thanks to the talented winemaker the new winery.
