Lot presentation

Riesling Vendanges Tardives Grand Cru Vorbourg Clos Saint-Landelin R. Muré 2001

The wine

Situated in Rouffach, the vineyard lies at the southern end of the Vorbourg Grand Cru. The Riesling vines facing due south enjoy ideal sun exposure. The terroir, ideal for grape ripening, consists of marl-limestone and pebbly soils. In the vineyards, the grapes are entirely hand-picked and placed in 20 kg crates. The grapes are then carefully sorted, as only overripe fruit with noble rot is kept. The grapes are then vinified as naturally as possible, with fermentation triggered by the natural yeasts present on the berries. Lastly, the wine is matured on fine lees before bottling.
The golden colour reveals a nose characterised by aromas of camomile, camphor and mint. The intense, complex palate strikes a fine balance between fruity aromas and delicate acidity, leading to an incredibly long finish.

About the Producer R. Muré

Michel Muré settled and began winemaking here in Rouffach, just south of Colmar back in the 17th Century. In 1935, his descendent Alfred Muré extended the estate with the addition of Clos Saint-Landelin, replanting these 12 hectares of terraced vineyard to optimise this ideally-situated terroir with its fabulous sun-exposure and shelter from the rain. Today it is Alfred’s grandson René who, along with his children Véronique and Thomas – the domaine’s twelfth-generation vintners – continue to run this execeptional vineyard using biodynamic methods.
