Viré-Clessé Cuvée E.J. Thevenet Domaine de la Bongran (J.Thevenet) 2004
The wine
This Viré-Clessé is produced from fifty-year-old Chardonnay vines grown in soils of clay, limestone and white marl. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in the traditional way using native yeasts, and the wine is matured for nearly 20 months in oak foudre tuns. This particularly mineral wine has a creamy, generous appearance. It will easily keep for about ten years. It will also benefit from a spell in your cellar before drinking.
About the Producer Domaine de la Bongran
It is to Jean Thévenet and his son Gautier to whom we owe the sweet wines of Burgundy. Domaine de la Bongran is located in the Mâconnais, the most southern part of the Burgundy wine region. The wines are amazing, both when tasting and especially when drinking them, the results are quite simply stunning. The perfectly balanced wines of Domaine Bongran are to be discovered at all costs.
