Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles Louis Michel et Fils 1977
The wine
Grand Cru Grenouilles by Louis Michel & Fils is a rare wine which can be hard to come by (3,000 bottles). The vines, with an average age of 50 years, produce a subtle, spring-like wine, with notes of wildflowers, white fruit and kiwi. The lack of wood preserves the minerality and the aromatic complexity of this great Chablis.
About the Producer Louis Michel et Fils
In the heart of Chablis, Domaine Louis Michel and Fils is one of the oldest domaines of the appellation. And, most importantly, one of the most consistent. In the family since 1850, it now has some 25 hectares of vines planted on hillsides. The key to its success is the abolition of barrel élevage. As a result, the domaine produces clear, clean, precise non-wooded wines. At the head of the domaine, Guillaume is convinced that the sustainable cultivation of his vines favours the expression of this exceptional terroir. As for his wines, he handle them as little as possible during the vinification and the élevage. This respect for the product and this long-term work are rewarded by obtaining wines to age for ten to twenty years.
