Lot presentation
Château Picque Caillou 2008
The wine
The estate has produced small quantities of a white wine aged on fine lees and in barrels since 1993. The white wines are usually aged in barrels, and as a result acquire great aromatic richness, well-rounded and creamy with refined notes of broom, lime blossom, toast and exotic fruit.
About the Producer Château Picque Caillou
Corresponding to the northern part of Graves, (formerly Hautes Graves), the region of Pessac and Léognan is a communal appellation, created in 1987. With its unusual terroir, it is made up of gravelly slopes and uneven pebbles. Its wine-making qualities were moreover sufficiently conclusive as in 1855 Haut-Brion featured alongside the Chateaux of the Médoc in the group of premier crus of imperial classification. The last vineyard in the commune of Mérignac, Picque Caillou, is a worthy representative of the appellation, for both white and red wines. Its name reminds us of the pebbly soil (cailloux), brought by the Garonne river thousands of years ago. The vineyard covers about 30 ha.
