Alain Voge

More understated than Côte-Rôtie or Hemitage, the Cornas appellation is among the best of the northern Rhône valley, notably thanks to emblematic figures like Domaine Alain Voge. Masterfully managed by Lionel Fraisse, the twelve hectares of Syrah and Marsanne are grown organically and biodynamically to Cornas and Saint-Péray wines that are authentic, concentrated and irresistibly lively.

In 1958, Alain Voge joined his father working the small family farm and decided abandon polyculture and devote the entire land to the growing of vines. The northern Rhône appellation Cornas owes much to this winemaker who has contributed greatly to putting this unknown appellation on the map. Today, the family has vines in several appellations: Cornas (6.5 ha), Saint-Péray (4ha), Saint-Joseph and Côtes-du-Rhône (red). 13 hectares are tended to using organic and biodynamic prinipals (certified since 2013).
The property was associated with Albéric Mazoyer, the former technical directer of Chapoutier, from 2004 to 2018, and with Lionel Fraisse from 2018, who stepped in particularly after the sad passing of Alain Voge in 2020.
His Syrahs are world renowned, as are his whites and sparkling wines from Saint-Péray. The concentrated and lively wines wines can be savoured both in their youth and after ageing. A stand-out producer from the region.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE

« Voge creates reference Cornas and Saint-Péray wines. At the top, Les-Vieilles-Fontaines Cornas isn’t produced every year. You should also try the delicious fizzy Saint-Péray, les Bulles-d’Alain, which is a treat for the palate, reconnecting with the ancestral tradition of the sparkling wine sector, which dates from well before AOCs »

LA REVUE DU VIN DE FRANCE

« This beautiful domain […] has found its place, for several vintages now, at the heart of the Cornas élite and the white Saint-Péray appellation. The wines have a natural, authentic concentration and a better level of freshness than before. »
