Nuits Saint-Georges Philippe Pacalet 2011
The wine
This Nuits-Saint-Georges hails from two climats: "Les Longecourts", and "Bas de Combe" which adjoins the Vosne-Romanée appellation. The vinified Pinot Noir grapes from forty-year-old vines have a rich but direct register. The minerality provides the structure for its fruity aromas (red and dark berries). Its tannins and saline finish add complexity to its smoothness. This wine would benefit from brief cellaring so that it can be served with flavoursome dishes.
About the Producer Philippe Pacalet
Enologist and nephew of Marcel Lapierre, Philippe Pacalet has been producing top-quality wines since 2001. The key to the success of his négociant business is his desire to best express the terroir, his meticulous vinifications, non-interventionist methods and his discerning use of minimal doses of sulphur. His extremely natural wines have stunning balance and for the most part, excellent aging potential.
