The wine

Enzo Ponzoni is a producer who places all that is living at the heart of his work, treating each of his vines as equally important and employing organic methods for looking after them. The result is striking, but few are the lucky ones who get to enjoy it considering how limited the quantities are. The varietal vinified here, Refosco calvari, reveals an impressive balance of elegance and power. It has a complex bouquet of fleshy fruit, black cherry, gentle spices, and smoky notes. On the palate it’s full-bodied, structured by beautiful tannins that deserve to refine over a few years in the cellar. Pair it with a regional dish like lasagne with roasted aubergine, or an autumnal meal like stuffed butternut squash or roasted mushrooms.

About the Producer Miani

Situated at the north Italian border, at the heart of the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia appellation, Miani benefits from its northern position at the foot of the Alps; the climate here is temperate and continental, refreshed by the cool air of the mountains. Led masterfully by Enzo Pontoni, this domain has forged a reputation through the producer's true love for his plants and other raw materials. The work carried out in the vines is meticulous in order to preserve the terroir and let it express itself through these intense resulting wines. In the same vein, work in the cellar leaves nothing to chance, letting the dynamic aspects of nature come through with precise proceedings.
