IGT Veneto Vigna Seré - Rosso Passito Dal Forno Romano 2003
The wine
"Rosso Passito" means that this wine is produced from late-harvested grapes. Raisining (passito) is a very common practice in the Veneto region, serving to enhance the wine's structure and aromatic and visual concentration. On tasting, the wine reveals a purple appearance with violet hints. The bouquet expresses aromas of plums, coffee and nuts. The palate is full bodied and warm, with refined tannins, and the finish is particularly long.
About the Producer Dal Forno Romano
The Romano Dal Forno domaine in Veneto was established in 1983. It takes the least interventionist approach possible to vinifying its wines, and ages them in new barrels. The advice is therefore to taste these wines after protracted cellaring in order to allow the tannins to mellow.
