Information
Located on the commune's high ground, Château Blaignan has a superb holding of 140 hectares, 86 of which are currently in production. The vineyard is managed and the wines are made respecting the purest Médoc traditions. Assiduous care has restored the prestige to this vineyard that it enjoyed in the mid-nineteenth century. It is one of the region's finest crus bourgeois. Since 2004, the chateau belongs to CA Grands Crus of Crédit Agricole, which also owns Grand-Puy Ducasse in Pauillac, Rayne-Vigneau in Sauternes and Meyney in Saint-Estèphe. The group massively renovated the cellar in 2004 and modified the cultivation methods by adopting a responsible point of view.
Blaignan is an elegant Médoc wine with a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), complemented by Merlot. It is a half-bodied wine with a balanced extraction. The bouquet evokes blackberry, spices and leather. The palate is mainly on black fruits. This wine is best when tasted after 3 to 10 years of maturing.
