Information
This property is hemmed in by several Médoc cru classés and is without doubt one of the oldest in the region.
This Pauillac property has impressed with its consistency for several decades now. At the very heart of Cabernet Sauvignon’s promised land, Ludovic and Julien Meffre, grandsons of the visionary Jean-Paul Meffre, put their all into doing the most for this Bordeaux varietal. Their 8 hectares are thus treated with utmost care. The soil is rich in Garonne gravel, allowing the grapes to reach a level of maturity that they don’t otherwise attain elsewhere. The grapes are picked by hand in small boxes to preserve their quality. There is a maceration before the grapes are fermented in order to concentrate the aromas, colour and tannins. Fermentation then lasts three weeks. To finish, the wine is matured for a year in casks (45% new wood). Château Bellegrave’s top wine is intensely crimson in colour. On the nose, this is a delicate cuvée with an elegant profile. The palate is full, juicy and flavourful, with a spicy finish. This bottle can be aged for over ten years. We recommend decanting it for an hour before serving. It will pair nicely with a filet mignon.
