Information
At 800m of altitude, Ridge Vineyards is the highest vineyard in California. This parcel is ideally situated: east-facing and protected from the violent wines of the Pacific. Its altitude also lends a pleasant nighttime coolness allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness.
The Santa Cruz Mountains appellation is renowned for its unique wines, owing to the rich, generous soils on which the vines thrive. In the vineyard, the estate strictly adheres to the principles of sustainable viticulture. All chemical fertilisers and weedkillers are prohibited to favour a gentler, more environmentally friendly approach to viticulture. Once harvested manually, the Chardonnay grapes undergo low-intervention vinification.
The intense golden colour is complemented by an expressive bouquet where tropical fruit aromas mingle with subtle notes of toasted marshmallow and lavender. Aromas of pear, white peach and lime emerge from the generous, suave palate, perfectly balanced by a lively acidity, leading to a complex, elegant finish. This cuvée can easily be cellared for several years.
