Information
The Kanosuke distillery was founded in 2017 by Yoshitsugu Komasa in the south of the island of Kyushu in Kagoshima Prefecture. Komasa is the sixth generation of shochu producer since the Komasa Jyoso brewery was created in 1883. The distillery is equipped with three pot stills whose shapes and degree of lyne arm vary in order to produce a range of whisky profiles. Kanosuke ages these spirits in Mellowed Kozuru casks. In fact, the brewery was one of the first to ever produce a cask-aged shochu.
Single Malt 2022, which uses a small proportion of peated malt, is produced in three different-shaped stills and matured in sherry casks, including a high share of recharred American white oak casks previously used to age the family’’s flagship product Mellowed Kozuru shochu.
