Information
Claude Dugat, now of worldwide acclaim, produces an infinitesimal quantity of high-quality wines on the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin. In this carefully cultivated domaine, the yields are microscopic and the vinification leaves little room for intervention: no clarifying nor filtration is conducted on these wines whose domaine produces, in its most prosperous years, a mere 50 cases of Griotte Chambertin and 100 of Charmes Chambertin. Wine for aging, these rich and complex wines show great consistency over the whole range, even in the small vintages. Mainly reserved for dilettantes, they cannot be found in traditional circuits.
Maison Dugat is a renowned wine trader established in Gevrey-Chambertin. It blends and releases a large number of cuvées, selected for their quality, character and aromas, creating authentic wines that reflect the Gevrey-Chambertin terroir. The trading house gathers fruit at the end of the alcoholic fermentation phase during the winemaking process. The family then carefully ages the wines, adding finesse and complexity before bottling.
The bright ruddy colour and ruby tints are complemented by an intense nose of ripe red fruit combined with subtle woody notes. The fleshy palate reveals coating tannins, a bewitching aromatic complexity and fine acidity, leading to a flavoursome, persistent finish. This cuvée can be enjoyed while young, or after several years of cellaring.
