Information
The Taillet family has been settled in Champagne for many generations. The vineyard is located in Merfy, 8 km from Reims, on the Saint-Thierry massif, in the "small" Montagne de Reims. Since 2006, Alexandre Chartogne has taken over from his parents and, in just a few years, has managed to make great progress in the domain thanks to a focus on biodynamics, working on horseback to avoid soil compaction, extensive plot selection and planting vignes franches or free vines. In the cellar, Alexandre works with oak, stainless steel, amphora, and cement barrels. The result: skilfully and carefully made champagne, rooted in its terroir. A domain that continues to progress… follow it very closely!
The Champagne scene continues to impress with the diversity of its artisans, each delivering a vibrant and unique expression of this much appreciated French terroir. This Hors-Série cuvée, created by Alexandre Chartogne, is a splendid example. Comprising 100% Chardonnay, mainly from plots in Avize, complemented by grapes grown in Merfy, Hors-Série is a Champagne with a character that leaves no one indifferent.
Triggered by natural yeasts, fermentation in wood adds density to the structure and a wonderful texture to the juice. The aromatic spectrum is rich, with a wine profile worthy of the great whites of Burgundy. Hazelnut and candied fruit combine with a pleasant chalky minerality. A hint of salt leaves a memorable impression as the finish lingers. This is a great bottle that can be savoured immediately for a special occasion, although a few months in the cellar will ensure an even greater sensory experience.
