Information
Léopold Gourmel cognacs are named after the grandfather of the house's founder Pierre Voisin, who wanted to pay tribute to his ancestor who was a wine-grower and saddler on Ile de Ré in the 19th century. The estate is today located in Fins Bois, one of the largest crus in the appellation, surrounding Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Les Borderies. The wines are aged on their lees before being distilled according to the house's unique style. The cognacs are then aged in century-old fine grain casks before being bottled without chill-filtration or colouring.
Léopold Gourmel XO Âge du Fruit cognac is aged for at least ten years in fine-grain, untoasted Limousin oak casks. As the name implies, it is a particularly floral bottling. The cognac is produced with Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche (2%) grapes grown in Fins Bois.
