Information
Together, Christian and Isabelle Clerget manage the 6 hectare domaine in the heart of the Côte de Nuits (between Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-St-Denis, Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée). Their work on the vine is particularly careful and their philosophy is close to organic. The wines are of a very fine standard, with a lot of complexity and balance and have good aging potential.
The Pinot Noir vines flourish peacefully in the Ormeaux climat, located above Clos de Vougeot in the commune of Flagey-Echezeaux. Planted in the 1945–1946 period, the vines benefit from sustainable viticulture in line with the principles of organic farming. Neither chemical herbicides nor weedkillers are applied. Once harvested, the fruit is vinified with as little intervention as possible. The cuvée is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new. Then, the barrels are blended and bottling follows without fining or filtration.
The intense, lustrous red colour, sublimated by violet tints, reveals an expressive bouquet with remarkable red fruit aromas and subtle hints of spice. Finesse and power go hand in hand on the palate. Present but mellow tannins lead delicately to a delicious, lingering finish. This cuvée has excellent ageing potential.
