Information
About the producer

The A1710 distillery was founded in 2006 by Yves Assier de Pompignan in a former 18th century sugar purgery at Habitation Simon in the east of Martinique. The name combines the initials of the estate’s founder, Yves’ ancestor Jean Assier, and the year it was created, 1710. Yves Assier de Pompignan’s great grandfather also owned the Saint James distillery, with links to the Hayot family, who run Habitation Simon. The estate grows two varieties of cane, red and blue, using organic farming practices. After harvest, the cane is ground in a three-roll mill similar to those used in the 19th century. Distillation is carried out in a copper Charente pot still that has a built-in seven-plate column.

About the wine

A1710 Soleil de Minuit is a blend of molasses-based rum and rhum agricole from Martinique and Guadeloupe created with ten rums aged between for between six and 20 years.
