Information
Having acquired a real reputation with the wines from his trade, since 2006, with the help of his son, Dominique Laurent has also created a small producer-farming establishment from vineyards leased to a winemaker of Vosne-Romanée. He does not deal with vinification but élevage and bottling. Nevertheless, he supervises vinification. The father and son like to work grape musts that have not been destemmed and to mature their wines without sulphur. They use new barrels, the signature of the maison. Dominique Laurent's entire range of wines is characterised by a high degree of purity and to be accessible to all ages. This recipe has proved its worth to fans all over the world.
Dominique Laurent offers several cuvées from Mazis Chambertin old vines. All of the grapes come from very old wines, are harvested late when they are fully ripe and vinified with care. The wine merchant then takes charge of ageing, selecting the oak barrels from the Tronçais forest to suit each cuvée. The wines mature for many months in these barrels, sometimes for nearly two years with little or no adde4d sulphur.
This haute couture ageing results in a powerful, ruby wine with intense aromas of raspberry, blackberry and game on the nose. With a hint of minerality, the smooth, full-bodied palate is structured by ripe tannins with black fruit and spiced flavours. A wine designed to be left in the cellar for many years and best appreciated with braised game or prime rib.
