Information
Originally known as Kilnflat, this distillery was renamed by Charles Kay in 1871. It was then bought by Hiram Walker, who used almost all of the malt for the Ballantine's blended whisky. For this reason, most Glenburgie single malts are only available as independent bottlings.
A single cask Glenburgie (#900900) distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2017 for the Single Malts of Scotland range, matured in a hogshead for 18 years. The Single Malts of Scotland was created in 2005 by Elixir Distillers (formerly Specialty Drinks), the independent bottler founded by The Whisky Exchange in 1999. The range features single casks and small batch bottlings. Elixir Distillers’’ other ranges include Elements of Islay and Port Askaig. A limited edition of 267 bottles.
