Information
Founded in 1824 by John Haig, the Cameronbridge distillery—now owned by Diageo—is one of the largest grain distilleries in the world. Taking an approach ahead of its time since it was first founded, the distillery was one of the first to be equipped with patent stills designed by Robert Stein (the founder’‘s cousin) and Coffey stills. It was also a founding member of DCL (now Diageo) alongside eight other grain distilleries that had a quasi-monopoly over grain production in Scotland. It was also the first to produce a Scottish single grain, proudly named Cameron Brig.
A single cask Cameronbridge (#19-3701) distilled in 1982 and bottled at cask strength in 2019 by Valinch & Mallet, matured for 37 years in a hogshead bourbon cask. Valinch & Mallet is an Italian independent bottler founded by Davide Romano and Fabio Ermoli in 2015. A limited edition of 181 bottles.
