Information
Built in 1896 by Alexander Edward near the town of Keith, Speyside, Aultmore has long been used for blends. Popular in this role with its successive owners—Distillers Company Limited (now Diageo) until 1988, and John Dewar & Sons, who briefly owned the distillery from 1923 to 1925—Aultmore's range of single malts was not launched until 2014, which is a shame as the slow distillation in small stills with downward lyne arms gives the whisky a wonderfully aromatic and strong character.
A 12 year old single cask Aultmore (#AU619) distilled in 2006 and bottled at cask strength by Hidden Spirits in 2019, finished for 28 months in a Bolesna cask from Franca Contea. Hidden Spirits is an independent bottler founded in 2013 by Andrea Ferrari. It gained renown with several memorable bottlings of Bowmore, Clynelish and Ben Nevis, among others. Hidden Spirits also owns The Wild Parrot, a collection of rums selected by Stefano Cremaschi that has featured several famed editions of Caroni, Hampden and Demerara.
