Information
Named in tribute to Napoleon, who is said to have cried “this spirit will be my favourite” when he first tasted the spirit, the La Favorite distillery is located at the entrance to Fort de France, Martinique. Founded in 1842, Habitation La Favorite originally produced cane sugar. When it was bought by Henri Dormoy, it was modernized and turned into a distillery. It was equipped with a steam machine which is still in service today. Production is aged primarily in ex-cognac casks.
La Favorite’’s André Dormoy expression is a blend of rhum agricoles distilled in 1999 and aged in ex-cognac casks for 17 years. It is a tribute to André Dormoy, who oversaw production at La Favorite until 1999, with his son Paul and then his grandson Franck following in his footsteps. A limited edition of 3,500 wax-sealed bottles released in 2016.
