Information
Located in Beaune, the Chanson Père et Fils house was founded in 1750 by Simon Verry. It was then taken over by Nicolas Chanson in the 19th century, who developed the house’swinemaking activity and gave it its current name. It was purchased in 1999 by the Bollinger group; the vineyard now spans 45 hectares. The vines are grown organically, and the soils tilled; in the winery, a high proportion of stems is retained. The wines (especially reds) are of great quality and amply reward cellaring.
This climat, facing directly east on a soil made up of clay and marl, is located the furthest west and at the highest altitude of all the Beaune climats. Equal with les Fèves, le Clos des Mouches and even les Grèves, it is also one of the most beautiful crus in the whole of Beaune, if not the region. It belongs in the category of superb Premium Crus which are balanced, powerful and elegant, rivalling the Grand Crus to see which has the most class.
Domaine Chanson has produced some of the highest quality wines since Jean-Pierre Confuron has helped and guided the estate’s teams.
Made from whole grape clusters, this reveals powerful but delicate tannins, a long finish as well as wonderfully elegant aromas. However, it must be kept for at least a decade, maybe even longer if the vintage allows for it, before being enjoyed. Its aromas of dried rose, white blossom, spices, undergrowth, the liveliness of the grapes as well as the soft complexity and blending of its aromas make a beautiful Beaune wine to be stored.
