Information
Auchroisk (also known as Singleton of Auchroisk) is a Speyside distillery founded in 1972 by the Justerini & Brooks group to meet the growing demand for blended whisky. Now owned by the Diageo group, it was a pioneer of double maturation, but never credited as such.
A small batch Auchroisk (#90191-9092) distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2001 by Ian MacLeod for the Chieftain’’s Collection after 11 years’’ maturation and finishing in a port cask. Ian MacLeod & Company Ltd was founded in 1933 by Leonard Russell Senior. The Russell family bought the company in 1963 and Peter Russell took over at the helm. At the time Ian MacLeod bottled blends and independent bottlings, including the renowned Chieftain’’s range of single casks that made the most of the stocks Leonard Russell Senior had amassed since the creation of his brokerage company in 1935. The company became Ian MacLeod Distillers Ltd in 2003 just after buying Glengoyne, an acquisition which was followed by Tamdhu in 2011 and Rosebank in 2017. A limited edition of 1,944 bottles.
