Information
Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family domaine of Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2002, giving it its name. The domaine has been in the family since the 18th century and the trading establishments C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair have been in existence since 1720. The vineyard spreads over a little over 7 hectares in Richebourg, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-de- Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin. The greatest care is taken of the vines which are worked organically. The wines have already reached a good standard and are one of the rising values of the region, offering wines which combine fine substance and finesse.
In 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair, a young oenologist, took over the family vines, which up to then had been grown on rented land. From a long line of Burgundy property owners and merchants, the Liger-Belair family owned, at some point in time, some of the biggest and most beautiful terroirs in all of Burgundy. Since then, Thibault Liger-Belair's estate, located in Nuits Saint-Georges, quickly looked to establish its own style. First of all by converting to biodynamic cultivation, and then by looking to add a wonderful delicacy and a dignified finish to the wine, worthy of Burgundy’s best terroirs and winegrowers.
This plot of Premier Cru land, situated in Chambolle-Musigny, belongs to the Sigaut family. Now at the heart of this prestigious family, the wines that have been made there by Thibault Liger-Belair are powerful and rich with robust tannins but nevertheless are marked by a strong mineral finish that leaves a lasting impression.
