Information
Cognac Leyrat is a brand of cognac produced at the Chez Maillard estate, which boasts 90 hectares of vine in the Fins Bois appellation at the top of a sunny limestone hill. It is one of several estates owned by Francis Abécassis, a leading independent producer today managed by Abécassis and his daughter Elodie. Leyrat produces cognac from the Ugni Blanc grape distilled in two small 2,500 litre stills. In contrast to the blends produced by larger estates, it favours single estate cognacs designed to create a faithful expression of the terroir.
A Leyrat Napoléon cognac. Produced with grapes grown on the Maillard estate in Fins Bois, the cognacs featured in the blend have been aged for at least six years.
