Founded in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail is without a doubt one of the most famous independent bottlers in Scotland. What marks it out from all the others is not its age, nor its privileged location in the heart of Speyside, but its complete control over maturation. The only bottler to fill its own carefully selected casks within the distilleries themselves, Gordon & MacPhail has continued its search for excellence in the subtle art of maturation for more than 25 years.

A Macallan 2003 bottled in 2012 by the Scottish independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail for the Speymalt range. Speymalt is one of Gordon & MacPhail’’s most unique ranges, dedicated entirely to the Macallan distillery. The fruit of a long and fruitful partnership between one of the best-known Scottish distilleries in the world and one of its oldest independent bottlers, Speymalt has long acted as a semi-official range. Indeed, this range presents the largest available selection of vintage bottlings, it is even more comprehensive than that offered by the distillery itself; it is even said that, in order to offer small bottlings of old vintages, the owners of the distillery have been obliged, on several occasions, to repurchase stock from Gordon & MacPhail!
