About the producer
Royal Lochnagar is a Highland distillery founded in 1845 just a stone's throw from Balmoral Castle, the summer residence of the Royal Family. It is one of the rare distilleries to bear the royal warrant, and only one of two permitted to use the prefix “Royal”.
About the wine
A Lochnagar 12 year old bottled under license by John Begg Ltd when the distillery was owned by DCL. The word Deeside refers to the nearby River Dee. Note also that bottlings from this era do not use the Royal prefix, which was not granted until the very end of the 1980s.
