Founded in 1792, the Buffalo Trace Distillery is located in Frankfort, in the state of Kentucky. Owned by the Sazerac group, it has been known under several names including George T. Stagg and Old Fire Copper (OFC), and is thought to be the oldest distillery in operation in the United States. It produces an eponymous brand of bourbon, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, as well as numerous other brands including William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Georges T. Stagg and the famous Pappy Van Winkle.
A Blanton’’s distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2008 from cask #128. This limited edition of 228 bottles was selected by La Maison du Whisky and bottled at 51.5% ABV (103 proof), the standard strength for Blanton’’s Gold. Blanton’’s was the first ever commercial single barrel bourbon when it was launched in 1984 by the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky and is today a leading brand across the world. It is named after the former distillery owner Colonel Blanton.
