Information
Château Fontpinot is owned by the Frapin cognac house. It is the only premier cru château and is permitted to use the Grande Champagne appellation. The cognac is produced entirely on the family estate, which means every step, from harvesting to slow distillation on lees in dry cellars, is carried out at the property. The nectar reveals a striking colour with warm golden, almost coppery hues. The nose presents very varied and complex aromas that include candied fruit, dried fruit, marzipan, and nuts like hazelnut and nougat. The palate is impressively rich, complex and long. It can be enjoyed on its own or with a dessert or platter of strong cheeses. This is a precious nectar to savour among seasoned enthusiasts or as a gift (perhaps for oneself).
A Château de Fontpinot Réserve cognac from the 1980s imported to Italy by Moon Import. This is a cognac from grapes grown over 137 hectares planted with Ugni Blanc, exclusively in Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru in the appellation. The cognac was distilled and bottled at the château from the estate’’s grapes, which is why the cuvée is also marked “Château”.
