Information
Built in Glasgow in 1811, the Port Dundas grain distillery was, in its prime, the largest distillery in Scotland. Particularly innovative for its time, it was also one of the founders of the conglomerate Distillers Company Limited, a predecessor to Diageo. Despite the various improvements made throughout its life, the distillery closed in 2011.
A Port Dundas 20 year old grain whisky distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2011 as a Diageo Special Release, a range released annually that highlights some of the finest whiskies of the group’’s open and closed distilleries. This is a blend of three casks. The whisky was first matured in second-fill casks before being shared between a sherry cask, a new European oak cask and a first-fill American oak cask. These casks were then blended and married before bottling. A limited edition of 1,920 bottles.
