Information
The history of Naudin Ferrand dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Claire Deroye convinced her husband Henri Naudin to purchase some vines in Burgundy. This passion passed from generation to generation, and in 1994 it was Claire Naudin took up the family estate. Today, the domain spans 22 hectares and respects responsible agriculture. This family domain has vineyards covering the Hautes Côtes, in the regional appellations of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Haute-Côtes de Nuits. Chardonnay is grown here for the white wines, and Pinot Noir for the reds. Gamay and Aligoté are also cultivated by the domain. According to Claire Naudin, viticulture is something you should live without fear of experimenting, for example with biodynamics. This approach has allowed her to create elegant and pure cuvées with much freshness and depth. They offer a lovely illustration of Burgundy's terroirs.
This Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune is a natural, Burgundian wine from the producer Naudin Ferrand. It comes from 8-, 10-, and 41-year-old vines planted on the climats of En Bully, La Grande Corvée de Bully, and En Foigery.
The grapes are vinified in whole harvests after a thorough sorting process. They are added to the vats with no addition of sulphur. After a 5-day intracellular fermentation, stirring encourages alcoholic fermentation, and his takes 10 days. Whilst stirring can be carried out, there is no pumping over. After a gentle pressing the juice is placed into casks (80% new wood) by gravity. The wine is then matured on lies. It isn’t filtered, and a small amount of sulphur is added to stabilise the cuvée during ageing and transportation.
This wine has a lovely appearance and is of medium intensity. It has a complex nose of cherry, coriander, and rose. On the palate, this is a harmonious cuvée, fine and flavourful.
