Information
Domaine François Lumpp is one of the flagship areas of the Givry appellation. François Lumpp started working as a wine grower in 1977 with his brother, then separated and created his own domaine in 1991, on 8 hectares of land. The wines he produces show consistent quality and are characterised by fine length on the palate.
Clos Jus is just north of Givry and its soils are rich in clay and chalk. François Lumpp always aims to underline the character of this terroir, cultivating his vines with utmost attention. To craft this cuvée the grapes were fully destemmed before a cold maceration lasting 5 to 10 days to extract colour and flavour. The juice was then put in vats for three weeks before being matured in oak casks, some new and others one or two years old. The lunar calendar is followed for stirring, filtering and bottling the wine. In the glass this cuvée has a lovely intensity and a bouquet evoking cherry, plum, grilled nuts, and a light hint of pepper. Structured by good tannins, it will pair nicely with a characterful dish such as game or lamb.
