Information
Domaine Tortochot is a family domain located in Gevrey. A lover of Burgundy wine, Gabriel Tortochot ardently defends the region, especially given his role as the president of Gevrey-Chambertin's viticultural union. He passed down this passion to his two daughters, Brigitte and Chantal. At the age of 35, Chantal decided to take over the family business. Having qualified as an enological technician, she now produces wines that reflect their terroir thanks to careful viticulture.
This Gevrey-Chambertin is crafted from old vines cultivated on the prestigious Tortochot estate. The vineyard consists of 11 hectares of Pinot Noir grapes averaging 40 years in age. Each year, production is limited to 60,000 bottles. The vines are tended lovingly, with green harvesting in July to limit the yield.
The winemaking process involves precise fermentation and temperature control. The long ageing (15–18 months) is carried out in oak casks of which 25% is new wood. On tasting, the density and texture of this wine are simply astonishing. You’ll appreciate the nuances of red and black fruit and sweet spices.
