Information
Domaine Ballot-Millot, located in Meursault, is a historic family farm of the Côte de Beaune, which has been in existence since the 17th century. Charles Ballot has been running the domaine since 2000 and is the fifteenth generation of his family at the head of the vineyard. The farm, which today extends over 12 hectares, has very fine plots of Meursault, Pommard and Volnay. For the last ten years or so, a much more natural and environmentally friendly approach has been taken for vinification: chemical weed-killers have been banned for soil tillage, and their treatment has become more sustainable and parsimonious. Charles Ballot produces very pure, classy and elegant wines. The whole range is very regular and of a high standard. Furthermore, this domaine maintains very reasonable prices!
Family domain Ballot Millot is dedicated to producing fine wines that express the beauty of their terroir. Growing is thus very thorough: chemical additives are banned, ploughing is carried out to encourage the roots to push deeper and optimise microbial life in the soil, and treatments on the vines are scarce.
This Meursault village cuvée has a lovely balance of elegance and power, with both finesse and minerality. It has a pale, yellow colour that introduces a delicate aromatic bouquet, carrying notes of white fruit, white flowers, fresh almond, and hints of patisserie. The palate has a wonderful richness balanced by a striking minerality typical of the local, chalky terroir. You should let this wine age in the cellar for around a decade before savouring it alongside a delicate dish like noble fish, cauliflower, or regional cheese.
