Information
Domaines Ott’s story started nearly 130 years ago (in 1896) when a young Alsatian agronomist Marcel Ott toured France to discover the depth of the viticultural world. His journey ended in Provence where he decided to cultivate some land which had been ravaged by phylloxera several years earlier. He worked hard to restore it, planting magnificent varieties, before handing it over to his descendants. Today, the vineyards, which became part of the Louis Roederer group in 2004, are managed by Jean-François Ott (the 4th generation). The Domaines Ott are made up of two Provence crus classés, Château de Selle and Clos Mireille, and a winery in Bandol, Château Romassan. The domains’ passion remains intact since the Otts came to the region over a century ago. They produce exquisite Provence whites, rosés and reds. Discover these iconic wines and their distinctive bottles.
Located on the limestone hills not far from Draguignan in Côtes de Provence, the vines grow in an ideal microclimate, with early winters and hot, dry summers. The dry terroir forces the vine to dig its roots deep into the soil for nutrients. A majority of Grenache brings colour and vinosity; the Cinsault brings finesse and elegance, while the Syrah and Mourvèdre bring fruitiness. The result is thrillingly subtle. There is a wonderful freshness and crunchy fruit. The nose delivers aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers. The palate is vibrant and perfectly balanced.
