Information
Gosset, whose ancestors have lived in Aÿ since 1484, is one of the oldest houses in Champagne (created in 1584 by Jean Gosset). Béatrice Cointreau passed the domain over to her brother Jean-Pierre in 2007. Gosset's speciality has become vinous, intense and powerful champagnes which age majestically. This is particularly true for their brilliant vintage cuvées and the cuvée Célébris. The house launched a new cuvée in 2007, a blanc de blancs with remarkable tension.
Maison Gosset has been making wine on sumptuous terroirs for over four centuries. The champagne house’s oenologist Odilon de Varine has a very particular vision of his work. According to him, he ‘makes a wine first of all, then the bubbles bring it all together’. This cuvée is made from 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, undergoing a traditional maturation on lees. An extra-brut dosage (3g/L) is added to maintain a balance of freshness and vinosity. The wine then matured for 10 years so that it gains in complexity and has the potential to last for decades. To the eye, Celebris is a sparkling yellow wine with a thread of delicate bubbles. On the nose it is a concentration of toasted and nutty notes. Then come the refreshing, minty aromas. It has perfect tension on the palate. It will serve especially well with oysters or lemon chicken. You can count on thirty years of ageing in the cellar for this one.
