Information
The Huguenot family lands have been cultivated and acquired from one generation to the next since 1800. The 23 hectares of vines cultivated today, stretching across the emblematic landscape of the Côte de Nuits, are the fruit of the relentless labour of previous generations. Marguerite and Roger Huguenot-Quillardet cultivated a few hectares of vines in the mid-twentieth century, including an emblematic parcel of Charmes Chambertin, before their son Jean-Louis took over in 1968. Together with his wife Éliane, the young winemaker went to great lengths to build a modern winery and cellar for his vineyard, which now spans more than 18 hectares. From 2019 onwards, the couple wholeheartedly took a stand for the identity of their terroirs and decided to grow their vines in accordance with organic farming methods and biodynamic viticulture practices. Their son Philippe, supported by his wife, joined the family business in 1993 and has undertaken extensive renovation work on the vathouse to add a new chapter to the domain’s story.
Domaine Hugenot spans 23 hectares on the Côte de Nuits, crossing over the appellations of Marsannay, Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. The domain has been managed by the same family for 10 generations, with a passion for terroir passed down over the years. The 40-50-year-old vines grow in soil rich with chalk and fossils. Since they are certified organic, no herbicides are used in the vineyard and the work is carried out by hand. The Marsannay Héritage cuvée is made entirely of Pinot Noir, and is matured in oak casks for 12 to 18 months. Upon opening the bottle, you’ll notice the wine’s intense colour. Its nose offers notes of both red and black fruits, and on the palate it is generous and harmonious, making way for a lengthy finish. Keep this wine in the cellar for up to 8 years from its vintage. We recommend pairing it with beef bourguignon or lamb with oregano and thyme.
