Information
Domaine Comte Senard is nestled in the heart of the charming Burgundy village of Aloxe-Corton. The vineyard was established in 1857 by Jules Senard, who passionately developed his two hectares of vines. Today it boasts ten hectares of vines, including eight hectares of Pinot Noir red grapes and two hectares of Chardonnay. Convinced that to produce great wines, quality raw materials are essential, the winemaker applies the same meticulous care in the cellar as they do in the vineyards. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, they carry out each step in the vineyard with great respect for the soil and the environment and is currently in the process of converting to organic agricultural practices. After conducting harvests entirely by hand, the vinification process is carried out with minimal intervention and only minute amounts of sulphur are added to allow the fruit to express its full range of aromas. Domaine Comte Senard offers authentic vintages reflecting the exceptional terroir of Burgundy.
Made to be enjoyed in its youth, this cuvée is a blend of different Aloxe Corton parcels whose vines, with an average age of 15 years, have been attentively grown. The domain chooses to harvest by hand. A cold prefermentary vinification of entire bunches is carried out in order to preserve the Pinot Noir’s delicate profile. The wine was then matured in oak barrels (40% new wood) for 18 months in order to become more complex in its texture and aromas. This Aloxe-Corton is a deep, ruby colour, with a typical bouquet of red and black fruits and violet, as well as an ample texture that calls for gastronomic pairings with meat and sauce.
