Information
A family affair, Domaine Grand came into being in the 17th century under the auspices of Antoine and Claudine Grand who already possessed a few hectares of vines. In the 70s, three brothers shared the exploitation between them and after their departure, Emmanuel, a son of one of the brothers, took up the torch. His wife Nathalie, who he met during an audit of the domain, chose to join him in his endeavour. Together, they reduced the vineyard to 11 hectares and favour organic agriculture to care for the rare terroirs they own.
A true treasure of the Jura, the Château Chalon from Domaine Grand is made using production methods that are respectful of the environment. Harvesting was undertaken by hand, pneumatic pressuring is slow, traditional vinification is carried out, and the wine is matured in barrels for six years. With excellent ageing potential and aromatic power, this wine can be appreciated with traditional dishes such as chicken with mushrooms, or Comté cheese.
