Information
In common with many domains, the history of Nicolas Rossignol's property is a family affair. After travelling around South Africa and learning his craft in various regions (Joseph Voillot in Volnay, Louis Latour in the Ardèche, le Vieux Télégraphe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and La Cardonne in Bordeaux), Nicolas Rossignol established his own domaine in 1997 with 3 hectares of vines in the communes of Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay. In parallel he had been vinifying wine on the Rossignol-Jeanniard family domaine since 1994. You may recall that the two domaines merged in 2011 and retained the "Domaine Nicolas Rossignol" label. Over the years, the owner has continued to broaden his horizons, acquiring new land to supplement his domaine, which now spans some 17 hectares.
On a clay-chalk soil, the plot captures the sun’s heat, conferring it to the vines during the night – this produces silkier tannins. This Pinot Noir is aromatic and structured with beautiful, fruity aromas that balance well with incredible spiced notes. Its voluptuous attack opens up to a palate that is supple with no tension. It can easily be aged for 6-8 years in your cellar.
