Information
The Château du Cèdre is one of the most renowned domaines in the Cahors appellation. The adventure began in 1958, when Charles Verhaeghe started to plant vines on a mixed-crop holding. His two sons, Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe then took the reins, Pascal taking care of the vinification and Jean-Marc of the vines. The 27-hectare vineyard boasts a magnificent terroir and is planted with 90% Malbec. The wines from this domaine are of excellent quality and consistency. The two brothers also recently took over some vines in Roussillon.
The grapes in this cuvée from Château Vari are cultivated organically on deep clay and limestone soils. The wine has an intense garnet colour and aromas of ripe red fruits and liquorice. The full-flavoured palate has a tannic structure that will soften with time, and a long finish with a hint of menthol.
