About the producer

Jean-Marc Grussaute has elevated his estate to the pinnacle of the Jurançon appellation, thanks to his eclectic production of both dry and sweet white wines. A bit of history: although the estate was acquired in 1900, it wasn’t until 1970 that the vines began to flourish, with the cultivation of Petit and Gros Manseng. Jean-Marc joined the family estate in 1988 to assist his mother. Today, he is supported by a dedicated team of around ten people. Covering 11 hectares, Camin Larredya (‘Camin,’ meaning ‘path’ in the local dialect) paves the way to excellence. Whether it’s dry or sweet white wine, the estate shines through its use of traditional Jurançon grape varieties: mainly Petit and Gros Manseng, complemented by Petit Courbu, Camaralet, and Lauzet. Certified organic since 2007, Jean-Marc Grussaute focuses on sustainable practices, with manual harvests and limited yields His approach, both in the vineyard and cellar, centres around expressing the purest character of the terroirs. This deep respect for nature is reflected in the names of the cuvées, inspired by the plots they come from. The Revue du Vin de France Guide edition of Best wines in France has awarded Jean-Marc Grussaute the prestigious third (and ultimate) star, a record for a winegrower from the South-West!
This is undoubtedly one of the top estates in the Pyrenean foothills, which the iDealwine team wholeheartedly recommends. Indeed, we’ve tasted Jean-Marc’s wines multiple times, and they never disappoint!

About the wine

A product of the fermentation of raisined grapes, Au Capcèu is a solid-gold favourite of the iDealwine team. It is produced by direct pressing and fermentation in barrique barrels and foudre tuns. Its intense golden appearance reveals notes of candied fruits such as fig, apricot and mandarin. Over time, its honeyed notes give way to truffle. Its sweetness is counterbalanced perfectly by a great acidity. Why not risk a daring pairing with roasted poultry and yellow fruit, blue cheese or Asian cuisine? Sensational!
