Information
Stéphane Bernaudeau, who works for Domaine Mark Angeli, also owns just over 2 hectares of vines in Anjou in the Martigné-Briand district. This small-scale concern has been very successful and it is hard to get hold of bottles of its Chenin cuvées as their quality is so high. These wines have a distinctive depth, energy and minerality. We can highly recommend wines from this outstanding producer.
This cuvée is iconic to this estate. Stéphane Bernaudeau applies the principles of biodynamics to the vines so of course the Chenin is harvested by hand. Fermentation is triggered naturally with indigenous yeasts and the wine matures on its fine lees in oak barrels before bottling, unfiltered. .
The colour of the wine is a brilliant yellow and its nose has notes of white fruits and cloves, enhanced by wood. The incredibly rich palate is mineral and saline. You can enjoy a long finish of almonds and honey. Remember to decant it an hour before serving it to enjoy the wine to its full potential. For food-wine pairing, opt for white fish or a hearty salad. Don't forget to keep it for a few years ... if you can!
