Information
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial is the icon of Rully. The Dureuil-Janthial family, one of the oldest of the village, has been firmly rooted in the area since the 13th century. Since 1994, Céline and Vincent Dureuil have been at the helm, proudly perpetuating the family’s legacy. The vineyard extends over 20 hectares, mainly in the Côte Chalonnaise but also in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, across 23 different appellations. Certified organic in 2009, the estate also incorporates some biodynamic practices, including respect for the lunar calendar. However, a severe mildew crisis in 2016 led to the use of phosphonate acids to treat the vines, which is not approved for organic certification. As a result, the estate lost its certification, but after re-engaging with the process, it regained its organic status with the 2021 vintage. The work at Domaine Dureuil-Janthial is meticulous, with notable improvements in the ageing process, resulting in wines of exceptional finesse. The entire range is consistently outstanding, making the estate a safe bet for wine lovers. Domaine Dureuil-Janthial has established itself as the leading name in the Rully appellation.
Planted in Puligny-Montrachet, this white Burgundy comes from vines grown in clay soil. After 12 months in barrels and six in stainless steel vats, the bottling process follows the lunar calendar. A long élevage allows it to be aged for longer. Despite its almost late harvest, the Chardonnay’s mineral quality comes through quite delicately.
